We're Back! - lockdown 3.0 Ends!!

ree

Nearly three months off and the day is finally here! Outdoor pools open today - Monday 29th March! It's been a long and difficult time for a lot of us but I hope you're as enthusiastic as I am about getting back to the pool and back to training?! I wanted to give some updates about resuming the sessions on this blog.

New Session Focus

My goal this year was to compete mainly in pool events, however under the current situation it seems likely that pool events will be few and far between but open water events hopefully less affected. The Pool Sessions will then of course reflect a change in focus to distance and become more specific to freestyle although swimming all four strokes will remain an important component to the training sessions - as well sprint work!

New Weekly Post

There will be a new weekly post as well, which will cover the focus of that week within the training plan. I personally have not been in a pool since they closed in December last year so the sessions will again begin into a gradual build on distance and endurance weeks!

More Variation For Abilities

I'll be giving the sessions a wider range of variation in intensity so as to cater for the differing abilities of those that may wish to use them. I noticed that many were ignoring my suggestion to adapt the session for themselves and trying to swim the longer and harder sessions off times that were unrealistic.

New Open Water Sessions

Expect more sessions specific to open water as the temperature comes up, once it gets closer to the 15c mark I'll start regular open water training sessions.

Drill Library

I made a promise that I would start some form of library of drills, whether using my own media or sourcing examples from around the internet. I'll be working on this and trying to build something useful alongside the sessions I post.

If you have any questions or would like to make some suggestions then please let me know!
